Community Driven

We don't believe in the "if you shop here, you can't talk to so-and-so" mentality you may see outside our doors. We champion the sport of bowling, and ALL bowlers that participate, regardless of skill-level, ball company preference, and especially, whomever they choose to drill their equipment.

With an incredible 41 years in the pro shop business, Brad has been a cornerstone of the Rochester bowling community since August 1, 1984. As the longtime owner of Beginr’s to Pro’s Pro Shop, his passion for the sport and dedication to helping others has defined his career.

Brad entered the business to turn his love for bowling into a profession — and it shows. Combining a background in math and physics, he became an early pioneer in understanding and applying advanced ball dynamics and layouts to match each bowler’s unique style. His forward-thinking approach continues to help countless bowlers improve their game and reach new levels of success.

A bowler for over 52 years, Brad’s personal highlights include three 300 games and an 811 series, though he’s always prioritized helping others over chasing his own accolades. His impact extends nationally, earning the IBPSIA Presidential Award for Pro Shop Excellence (2012) and recognition for starting the first youth sport bowling league in the country. Brad has spent the majority of his career dedicated to youth bowling, coaching both High School and College Bowling, most notably leading the RIT Bowling Team to two top ten National finishes.

Off the lanes, Brad is a devoted baseball and hockey fan, cheering for the Mariners, Blue Jays, Phillies, Avalanche, and Bruins. He loves spending time with family, especially coaching his grandson in baseball, collecting vintage sports cards, and enjoying simulation sports games.

Twice named GRABPA Men’s Travel League Bowler of the Year, and a Hammer Staffer for 23 years, Brian knows what it takes to perform at the highest level.

What drives him most is helping others reach their goals — whether it’s a personal best or a tournament win. Off the lanes, Brian’s a dedicated Buffalo Sabres fan, enjoys golfing, hiking, and adventures with his girlfriend Valerie, and cheers on the Rochester Americans, LA Rams, and Boston Red Sox.

The newest face at Beginr’s to Pro’s, Josh has been in the pro shop business since May 2025, but his passion for bowling spans decades. A lifelong bowler since age six, Josh combines deep technical knowledge of ball dynamics, layouts, and lane play with a modern approach to business — managing the shop’s social media, website, marketing, and engraving services.

For Josh, bowling is more than a sport — it’s about growth, connection, and helping others succeed. He thrives on seeing bowlers learn, apply new knowledge, and achieve their goals. “When someone figures it out and finds success — it gives me goosebumps,” he says.

On the lanes, Josh boasts multiple 300 games and 800 series, including three 300s and a high of 792 on sport conditions. He’s a former RIT Bowling Team member, helping secure 3rd and 8th place national finishes, and has proven himself among the best with a Denver Masters title and two USBC Masters cashes, including a 33rd-48th place finish.

Off the lanes, Josh is a Principal Engineering Lead at Blizzard Entertainment, a dedicated Buffalo Bills and Yankees fan, and enjoys CrossFit, weightlifting, and spending time with his girlfriend Eddaliz.
